An Island full of flare: Lucky Gent goes to Old San Juan, PR

Ending the year on a semi tropical island felt exciting. The world as we know it was still adjusting to face masks, hand sanitizers, queuing up endlessly and having our patience tested like never before. In spite of these challenges, we were ready for an adventure. When you are a clothing brand there is so much more beyond the design, the fabric, and the pieces. The brand is your life. As we see it through our eyes, each piece of apparel comes alive in the very fabric that has been handpicked. What better place to travel to intertwine artistic endeavors with a clothing brand, than the beautiful Island of Puerto Rico. San Juan is rich in colour, character and history. We enjoy incorporating styles of the past and present to make this brand as unique as our travel destinations. As true to our name, there was something Lucky about this trip.

Puerto Rico's vibrancy derives from more than 500 years of rich history and the subsequent blending of different cultures. Old San Juan comes alive with the beautiful mosaic of colours. The neatly painted homes, the lush terrain, along with the beautiful fusion of stylish Puerto Ricans, the entire scene was a visual delight . Puerto Rico was the ideal destination for Lucky Gent! As our brand truly captures a unique style of classic yet contemporary feel, so does old San Juan. From San Felipe del Morro Castle to the west and Saint Christopher’s Castle to the east, to the street art movement, to  Ateneo Puertorriqueño and Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Puerto Rico, we experienced classic and contemporary.

With everything we’ve mentioned about San Juan, you now understand why this was the perfect backdrop and  opportunity to photograph one of our latest women’s hats. The new “straw hat” invokes a classic and contemporary style. It is easy to visualize a fashionable lady enhancing her ensemble from the past or present, with fine millinery. The hat, coupled with the hues of old San Juan went hand in hand. Lucky Gent’s style of classic hats, shirts, tunics, explosive patterns, and its trademark silk all derive from a love of travel, art and history.  We weave a story into all our pieces.

The appeal of this beautiful setting was an inspiration for new designs and fabrics for a new capsule collection coming in the Fall of 2022.
