In Search of Fabric: Lucky Gent Goes to Morocco

I arrived in the magnificent, bustling Marrakesh on a warm, breezy summer evening July, 2019. Seeing the splendid mosques and ancient facades, hearing the Adhan (call to prayer) and the delicious aroma of Moroccan spices, all brought back wonderful memories of adventures passed.  The following morning I exited my riad, carved with beautifully ancient, intricate carvings and draped with rich, silken fabrics and brilliant jewel tone tapestry, I imagine myself leaving a majestic, yet warm and inviting home of a king.  As I ventured to the local souk, with each and every step it was as if I was entering a whole new world: colorful and alive! This was exactly the adventure I sought.

I chanced upon an enchanting fabric store a few blocks away.  Outside and inside were incredible arrays of beautiful textiles, from prints to solids, wool to silk. As I made my way deeper inside the boutique, I had the great pleasure to meet a very well-dressed and handsome owner, who was friendly and as warm as the day.  Language was no barrier for us in this quest as we quickly arrived to an understanding for the treasure I sought. We laughed and gestured throughout our exchange.  We were clearly kindred spirits in style and quality.

The owner pointed to an area of natural prints -- a bolt of fabric immediately caught my eye.  Regal in tone and containing an array of our brand colors: rich gold, bold red, beautiful hues of blue.  I had a brilliant idea in mind for an exciting new shirt design perfect for this gorgeous fabric.  I swiftly secured the last six yards. Timing is everything as they say, and a little luck doesn't hurt either.  I was also very quickly drawn to a gorgeous fuchsia colored fabric with a dramatic African print. Boldness in style and boldness in color are what make these fabrics truly unique.  I had found my treasures indeed! There was a great sense of accomplishment when I departed that enchanting little fabric store.

In Marrakesh, my goal was to acquire unique and beautiful fabrics, and return with a lifetime experience. I accomplished both, and I bring them to you.
